Combining  globalization of R&D and Open Innovation for better innovation performance

​Open innovation  Speaker Series at  Haas School of Business (UC Berkeley) - November 9, 2009. I explore in this presentation the possibilities to combine open innovation and r&D globalization. Open innovation emphasizes the need to source external technology, but remains silent where to  find this technology - domestically or abroad. The R&D globalization literature has several interesting insights on how MNEs should structure  their R&D organization in a world with abundant technology. Integrating these insights will make open innovation more relevant for the many multinationals who are globalizing their R&D at an accelerated pace.
